Friday 29th March 2013
If you’re one of the observant people in our
community, you may have noticed more rail traffic
than usual,  and different trains than usual, on the
line through Warminster, between Westbury and
Salisbury  today (Friday 29th March 2013).
This is because a lot of rail traffic is being
diverted our way because of major extensive
works to Reading Railway Station, including two
new entrances, a new passenger bridge, 100
new information boards, and the refurbishment
of the existing platforms. So, over Easter, you can
expect to see big freight trains and high speed
trains through Warminster and the Wylye Valley.
Here are photographs of one of the diverted
trains ~ two Freightmaster diesels hauling
goods. Seen here, having passed over Middleton
Bridge and approaching North Farm Bridge at
Norton Bavant in the Wylye Valley.
The photographs were taken by Danny Howell,
at about 4.10 p.m. on Friday 29th March 2013.

Having passed under North Farm Bridge
the freight train continues towards the
Norton Plantation Bridge, en route
towards Salisbury. Â
