Paper Outlines Proposal For A Website To Promote Activities Of Warminster And Two Neighbouring Towns

Tuesday 4th December 2012

The Meeting of the Enterprise Warminster group, held on Tuesday 4th December 2012, at Warminster Civic Centre, discussed the idea of promoting the activities of Warminster and two neighbouring towns, together on one website.

Councillor Robert Fryer (who is also the Mayor of Warminster) has produced a brief paper, outlining such a proposal, suggesting the three towns involved are Warminster, Frome and Tisbury. The paper gives a provisional list of activities currently available in Warminster. Taster sessions could be offered to encourage residents and tourists to attend.

However, the Enterprise Warminster group feels that Warminster, Westbury and Frome would be a better combination in terms of geographical proximity, and suggests too that Warminster could set up a site on its own. The funding of the taster sessions was also of concern. Enterprise Warminster says groups may be more inclined to offer sessions to residents who may take up membership but less likely to want to discount sessions for tourists who would afterwards move on.

Further consideration, it was felt, would need to be given on how to operate the proposed venture, but it was agreed that it would be beneficial for a page to be added to the Warminster Information Centre’s website advertising the activities that are available in the area. Michael Mounde was asked to initiate this, and he and Rob Fryer will compile a more comprehensive list.
