From Engage, Newsletter No.1, of Warminster Town Council, published February 2008:
Friends Pursue Park Improvements.
A committee has been formed with the aim of improving facilities at the Lakeside Pleasure Grounds. The Council has already set aside £10,000 towards the refurbishment of the paddling pool, but ‘Friends of the Park’ realised that this could be an initiative for other improvements.
After a consultation process, a wish list was created, including a return of boats on the lake, information on local wildlife, additional facilities for teenagers, a cafe, and better access through the park’s rear entrances.
The committee is submitting funding applications and hoping that improvements can be seen by the summer. As Chris March of ‘Friends of the Park’ explained, “Our town park is widely regarded, but it has to appeal to all ages.”
