The Warminster Town Centre Conservation Area Assessment (Informative Document), published in March 2007, noted:
This area is contained by a significant stone boundary wall, which runs along The Avenue and is interspersed by trees. Previously a wide road, The Avenue is now a pedestrian only route, which connects Portway with the railway station. Direct pedestrian links with the railway station, Market Place, North Row and Portway make this an important thoroughfare for the town.
