Bishopstrow Speed Limit
After getting many complaints from residents of the picturesque village of Bishopstrow the local Liberals have been campaigning to get the 30mph speed limit reinstated after an absence of over fifteen years.
Following a series of letters and telephone calls from Liberal Secretary John Syme, he met an official from the County Council at the danger spots in the village on the 21st September 1989.
He drew the officer’s attention to the speed with which the traffic was going through the village, the amount of traffic using the road, the children’s playgroup alongside the road and the street lighting.
The Liberals were informed that a survey had been conducted just over one year ago but Mr. Syme is quite hopeful that something will be done this time.
“The criteria that affect this decision have been affected in a way that is beneficial to our campaign and I am hoping that the street lights situation will be the clincher,” explained Mr. Syme.
The County Council are now awaiting the views of the Police.
