Flers Court, Warminster, the sheltered-housing estate of 12 one-bedroom flats and 12 two-bedroom bungalows adjacent the Western Car Park, was officially opened on Friday 21 March 1986.
The flats were for sale from £24,171, and the bungalows from £29,734, available on a 99 year renewable lease via West Wiltshire District Council who nominated the buyers.
A service charge of £54 a month, for the first year, covered the costs of buildings insurance, day-to-day maintenance, central heating maintenance, emergency alarms maintenance, painting of external components, periodic window cleaning, cleaning of communal areas, outside lighting, care of gardens and grounds, and other management services including the costs of a resident warden.
The first warden was Diane Edwards, previously the warden at Rowley Place, Melksham.
Flers Court was built as part of a continuing joint venture between Rendell Partnership Developments (a member of the Lovell Group), and West Wiltshire District Council (the owners of the land and providers of the management and warden services).
The first residents of Flers Court, who moved in on Wednesday 26 March 1986, were 63 year old Eileen and 66 year old Sidney.
