Miss Cecelia Cutler, of 17 North Row, Warminster, penned the following note about her house:
It is very obvious that there have been lots of changes and alterations over the years. When I go down into my cellar, for instance, I call it “Going down into the Middle Ages!†as one can see much more clearly the old lath and plaster inner walls and the old timbers down there. One of these, I was told by a gentleman who knew about wood, had been sawn in a saw-pit, which must have been quite a long time ago.
The deeds of my house only go back to 1820 or so, but parts of the house are obviously older than that. There are funny little nooks and crannies, which are my delight and joy. After living for years in a modern “box†albeit a very nice “box†it is lovely to be in an old cottage for a change.
