Kingston Deverill, Monkton Deverill And Brixton Deverill

From The West Wiltshire District Guide 1978:

The villages of Kingston Deverill, Monkton Deverill and Brixton Deverill are situated in the south-west corner of the district astride the Longbridge Deverill – Mere road. These unspoilt communities lie in the scenic rural valley which reaches like a finger into the Downs around Mere and which also marks the source of the River Wylye. The Downs rise on either side to a height approaching 1,000 feet. The area boasts an association with King Alfred as well as an abundance of pre-historic features. Farming continues to be the main activity.
