Wilfred Middlebrook, in The Changing Face Of Warminster, first written in 1960, updated in 1971, noted:
Back to Henford Marsh we find Lower Marsh Road and Marsh Street leading back to the Common, and in the valley, watered by the Cannimore Stream as it flows through the Common from Rehobath, we find further striking evidence of the changing face of Warminster. A huge housing estate now fills this once-green valley: the Lower Marsh estate, with the wide and impressive Wylye Road sweeping down from Marsh Street near its junction with Deverill Road.
