Three Pigeons On The Roof Of The Crown At Tilshead

SALISBURY NOT SO PLAIN
Despite the fact that the military occupy so much of Salisbury Plain it is still a most rewarding sightseeing area. Here you will find walls with thatched roofs, and a distinctive chequer-board look to the flint cottages and churches, and the art of the thatcher still flourishing more than somewhat. The Rose and Crown at Tilshead is a fine example of flint stonework and he who is prepared to lift his eyes will be quick to notice the mark of the thatcher craftsman – the three pigeons on the roof.
