The Remarkable Thing At Tisbury

Geoffrey Grigson in A Gazetteer To Wessex, in the book About Britain No.2, Wessex, A New Guide Book With A Portrait By Geoffrey Grigson, published by Collins in 1951, noted:

Tisbury, Wiltshire. The remarkable thing at Tisbury (where Sir John Davies, the Elizabethan author of Nosce Teipsum was born) is Place Farm, a grange of the abbesses of Shaftesbury, where the outer and inner gatehouses, the great thatched tithe barn and the farmhouse remain from the 15th century. Eight miles north-east of Shaftesbury.
