From The Official Guide, Salisbury & Wilton Rural District, Wiltshire, c.1950:
Quidhampton (population about 460).
Covering an area of only 850 acres, Quidhampton is pleasantly situated in a valley two and a half miles west of Salisbury. It forms part of the large Ecclesiastical Parish of Bemerton, within the City of Salisbury, and which extends to include Fugglestone within the Borough of Wilton.
Readers of Mrs. Marshall’s book “Under Salisbury Spire” will be interested in passing through the noted Wydville Grange, the home of the Wydville family in George Herbert’s time. Although much altered, it stands today in good preservation as two dwelling houses midway on the south side of the road.
