From The Official Guide, Salisbury & Wilton Rural District, Wiltshire, c.1950:
Berwick St. James
Covering an area of 2,497 acres, this parish is eight miles from Salisbury, but only three from Wishford Railway Station. A silver chalice, which escaped destruction here during the Reformation, will be found in the British Museum.
The Parish Church of St. James is a structure of flint and stone in the Norman and Early English styles, with an embattled tower containing four bells. The interior, with its stained glass window, and its Norman font, is well worthy of inspection. The Registers of the church date from 1700.
The parish is served by its own Post Office, and there is a daily service of buses to Salisbury and Bath.
