Writing in 1931, Victor Strode Manley, as part of his Regional Survey Of Warminster And District, made the following note about Stockton:
The landlord of the inn [Carriers Arms] [at Stockton] in 1931 assured me he had seen an old map showing a round malthouse on the site of the modern Long Hall. The same map showed a pond on the site of the cemetery west of the church.
