The 1911 Census records that Frances Ella Freeman was the head of the household, was aged 53, a widow, and her occupation was a lodging house keeper in business on her own account. Her place of birth was Bishopstrow, Wiltshire.
Also at Melville Cottage, recorded in the 1911 Census, was Jessie Agnes Priddle, aged 23, single (not married), born at Bromley, Kent. She is a domestic assistant.
Three lodgers are recorded. They are:
