Football Club Started At Heytesbury
A general welcome has been given to the association football club so successfully started here during the last fortnight of September. Indeed, we shall all gain directly or indirectly, through the opportunity now afforded to the young and vigorous members of our parish of playing this brave British winter game.
Lord Heytesbury, with his customary kindness, has provided the new club with ground and goalposts. There are already some thirty members on the books, this total including some good material, which we very gladly welcome as on other occasions, from our neighbours at Norton Bavant.
Matches are bring arranged; but at present we can spend our time with equal pleasure and profit in practice matches and goal-shooting at Garson’s.
List of officials: President, Lord Heytesbury; vice-president, Rev. A.D. Clutsom; captain, Mr. V. Hiscock; vice-captain, Mr. A. Reynolds; hon. secretary and treasurer, Rev. A.V.C. Gabell.
Committee: Messrs. Hinton, Foulston, Holoran, Waite, Hibberd, C. Lawrence, and Holdaway.
