Sutton Veny Pig Club

From The Warminster Herald, Saturday 12th October 1889:

Sutton Veny Pig Club. A supper was held at the Bell Inn [High Street], Sutton Veny, on Wednesday evening, when the members of the Pig Club, numbering about 20, sat down to a capital repast. The chair was taken by Mr. William Barter, and the vice chair by Mr. Stephen Barter. After the removal of the cloth, the usual loyal and other toasts were proposed and seconded. Several songs were sung, and dancing was enjoyed by the members to the strains of a clarinet, played by Mr. Charles Watts. The club has been in existence seven years, and after paying all demands has in hand about £11. Great praise is due to Mr. and Mrs. Merchant, the host and hostess, for the capital spread they put on. The company dispersed about 10 o’clock, after spending a pleasant evening.
