Thomas Carter ~ Brazier And Possible Keeper Of The Unicorn Beerhouse ~ And His Surviving Family

Danny Howell writes:

Thomas Carter, brazier and supposedly keeper of the Unicorn Beerhouse at West End (Vicarage Street), Warminster during the early 1840s, didn’t live to a great age. Entry No.953 in the Burial Register of St. Denys Church, The Minster, Warminster, records the interment of Thomas Carter, place of abode: West End, on 19th August 1847. He was aged 37 and the burial ceremony was officiated by the Vicar of Warminster, the Reverend Arthur Fane.

Ann Carter, who survived him, is listed in the 1851 Census Of Warminster, living at Pound Street, Warminster. She was a widow of course, she was then aged 35, and her occupation was listed as a domestic. Living with her were five children:
William Carter, son, aged 15, labourer, born at Warminster.
Anne Carter, daughter, aged 13, scholar, born at Warminster.
Thomas Carter, son, aged 5, scholar, born at Warminster.
George Carter, son, aged 5, born at Warminster.

Ann Carter, widow of Thomas Carter, died, aged 62. Her death, at Warminster, was registered in January 1877.
