From The Dorset County Express & Agricultural Gazette, issue dated Tuesday 25th September 1866:
Sheep Poisoned. – On Tuesday Mr. George C. Murton, of Bishopstrow Farm, turned some sheep into the Bishopstrow churchyard to feed on the long grass there. As there were a number of yew trees about, however, Mr. Murton told his under-shepherd to fence them off. The lad mistook some other bushes for the yews, and hurdling off the others, he left the yews unprotected. Some of the sheep ate at branches of the yew, and six of them died soon afterwards.
