An inscription on a gravestone in the churchyard at Upton Lovell, recorded by Danny Howell in the early 1990s:
In memory of Elizabeth, wife of William Millard, who departed this life June 21st 1823 aged 59 years.
Meek was her temper, modest was her life
A dutiful daughter and a faithful wife
She rests in hope that Christ’s prevailing love
Will raise her up to join the blest above.
